The second day of classes was made special by the school’s tradition of allowing the Grade 7 students and transferees to embark on a captivating tour around the campus. This tour showcased the school’s open facilities and helped the students get acquainted with their new environment.
The “Marian Walk” was first initiated by the Marian Student Government with the help of their moderator,Mr. Rovience Manuel Francisco. It was previously called the “Freshman Walk” and was later called the “Marian Walk” during the school year 2016-2017. It is one of the best and most well-known traditions of the school, as transferees and Grade 7 students can familiarize themselves with the school’s facilities.
On July 16, 2024, the Marian Student Government (MSG) orchestrated a campus tour for the Grade 7 students, an alluring and enlightening experience. The following day, July 17, 2024, the MSG officers warmly welcomed high school transfer students to dig in and familiarize themselves with the school’s facilities while learning several facts about the school and its environment.
The route comprised eight captivating stations, each manned by enthusiastic MSG officers, including four tour guides. At every station, the MSG officers had prepared several interactive games and trivia, igniting laughter and a contagious spirit of camaraderie amongst the participants.
During an interview with Anna Eunice M. Agripa, the president of the Marian Student Government, she explained the process of the said activity, as well as sharing a few thoughts about the school’s ongoing tradition. “Marian Walk is a campus tour for all the new G7 and transferee students. With the help of MSG, the facilitators of the said activity, various landmarks inside the institution are introduced and explained with remarkable insights and trivia. However, it’s not just a mere campus tour for us, MSG, because it’s an activity that doesn’t just tour the new students—-as it serves as an instrument for them to appreciate our school more. The Marian Walk is not just about knowing the ways how to explore the school, as it also lets them know the true essence and beauty of SMA-P. It feels exhilarating and honestly pleasing to be able to be a part of such an important tradition, as we can make transferee students feel welcome and familiarized with our beloved institution. I truly hope that this activity will be continuously implemented throughout the future years of SMA-P, as it is a tradition that I deem highly valuable.”
The Marian Walk is indeed a golden tradition that is extremely important to make new students understand and familiarize themselves with not only the school’s facilities but also its traditions. Indeed, our warm expression as one community, the Ignacian Marian way!
